IILA convened a two-day sensitization workshop at Kyaka Hotel in Machakos, following the successful development of its Resource Mobilization Strategy (RMS). The workshop brought together the team from various departments to ensure shared ownership of the strategy and to equip them with the knowledge and tools needed to bring it to life.

Sessions focused on key strategic areas, including donor mapping, grant proposal development, partnership building, and financial planning. Participants explored practical approaches for identifying potential funders, balancing grant reliance with sustainable income sources, and incorporating multi-year budgeting for core operational costs.

The workshop also introduced participants to important Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as donor retention rate, donation growth rate, and CRM adoption. Emphasis was placed on the need to align the RMS with IILA’s broader strategic plan and ensure realistic, goal-oriented resource mobilization.

One of the highlighted gaps was the need for a clearer fundraising component within the RMS, as well as improved branding and positioning to attract support. The training concluded with a renewed commitment to accountability, data management, and collective action in achieving IILA’s resourcing goals.
