The International Institute for Legislative Affairs (IILA) was well represented in the World Conference on Tobacco Control (WCTC 2025), held from June 23 to 25 in Dublin, Ireland. The conference brought together global advocates, policymakers, and researchers to advance discussions on effective tobacco control measures.

IILA’s engagement included:

• Panel presentation at a CTFK side event launching the Tobacco Control Budget Advocacy Toolkit, sharing Kenya’s case studies on tobacco tax and control fund advocacy.

• Presentation of an e-poster on lessons from Kenya’s advocacy campaign for the operationalisation of the tobacco control fund.

• Panel contribution in the Satellite Session on the Impact of U.S. Policies and Funding on Tobacco Control, sharing perspectives on Kenya’s policy context.

• Participation in a side event hosted by UICC on the EAC tobacco tax coalition programme, where IILA presented on behalf of the Kenya Tobacco and Nicotine Tax Coalition.

Alongside formal sessions, IILA's C.E.O., Celine Awuor, engaged partners in meetings and discussions, strengthening collaborations in tobacco control and non-communicable disease prevention. The conference was a valuable opportunity for IILA to represent Kenya, showcase ongoing advocacy work, and build partnerships with regional and global stakeholders.
