IILA was honored to participate in the 2025 Kenya National Food Systems Summit, a national stocktaking event aligned with the UN Food Systems Summit +4 (UNFSS+4). The event brought together national and international actors to reflect on Kenya’s progress across five key transformation pathways, ranging from climate-smart agriculture and sustainable production to equitable access and dietary diversity.
IILA’s presence underscored its continued commitment to supporting legislative reform for healthier food environments. The Summit’s focus on Front-of-Pack (FoP) labelling and limiting ultra-processed foods aligned directly with IILA’s current work advising the Ministry of Health on food labeling standards and public health legislation.
As Kenya prepares to host the UNFSS+4 Africa Regional Preparatory Meeting in May 2025, IILA remains committed to supporting inclusive, evidence-based policies that prioritize food justice, improve population health, and drive sustainable systems change.
