In a national effort to address public health challenges, IILA participated in a series of county-wide forums alongside the Ministry of Health, the Tobacco Control Board, and NACADA. These forums focused on substance abuse, tobacco control, and mental health, with active community engagement in Eldoret, Nakuru, Mombasa, Laikipia, Garissa, Kakamega, and Machakos counties.
IILA’s Programmes Manager, Ken Marau, played a central role in the forums by moderating key panel discussions that brought together local leaders, civil society representatives, and policy experts.
These forums reinforced the urgent need to address the growing impact of tobacco use, alcohol, and drug abuse on Kenyan communities. The discussions emphasized cross-sector collaboration and offered valuable insights for health advocacy documentation and tracking national partnerships.
